Ever feel overwhelmed - like there is just too. much. stuff. ?
Sometimes it is your own stuff - like facing a transition, a misunderstanding, a loss, or working hard to accomplish a goal. Maybe even wondering if you are on the right path or will ever achieve what you had hoped for.
As I get older other people's stuff weighs on me more - like my adult children's stuff or the people I work with or serve in ministry.
It could be health stuff, job stuff, relational stuff, financial stuff, house stuff... There could almost be endless categories. Stuff can be overwhelming. Stuff can steal your hope and your joy. It can distract you and blind you to all that is beautiful and good in life.
In Bridges Coaching, we talk about the Always Circle. It has three parts and the first one is: There's always going to be stuff. (Stay tuned for the next two blogs where we will explore the other two.)
It's true. There's always going to be stuff, but take heart.
Jesus said,
"I told you these things so that you can have peace in me. In this world you will have trouble, but be brave! I have defeated the world.” John 16:33
He knew about the stuff!
It's not Eden anymore... BUT, we are not alone and we CAN have peace.
The world tries to tell us how to feel. It says we can not be at peace if our circumstances are not favorable, or our accomplishments are not complete.
If I'm honest, it's still hard sometimes... but I have experienced the peace that passes understanding and I know God's offer is for more than what would come naturally. His offer is for supernatural peace. Calm in the midst of the storm. A sense of security even in the midst of the stuff.
Where's your focus?
Is it on the stuff or on the offer of supernatural peace, divine comfort, and internal companionship?
God always offers a plan! but I'm getting ahead of myself. More on that next time.

P.S, Sometimes we come to a lull of sorts in our lives, where there may not be external or even internal stuff we are dealing with... but then it is actually time to choose some stuff. If you are at a lull place in your life, seek God for a goal. We all know that "without vision people languish", we lean into Him more when we need Him.
