What Does Success Look Like To You?

If you take Coach Training with Bridges you will learn about Active Listening and Asking Powerful Questions. We'll talk through defining someone's focus and teach you how to assist with making SMART goals- quality action steps, but we hope that the BIGGEST TAKEAWAY for all our trainees is our definition of success. Put simply:

Success is an active relationship with God.

Completing an accomplishment is great. Good Coaching certainly helps people with forward movement, but as believers achieving goals cannot be our primary motivation. Our worth is not in whether or not we get "there" or get "that" done in our lifetime, our worth comes from our adoption into the family of God. It comes from our connection with a settled place with our Father in eternity.

At Bridges Coaching when an action step does not result in the desired outcome we say, "'Failure' is good research." But true "failure" is not having a soul connection with God. His Spirit is in us longing for connection.

When we process our lives through the lens of connection with God and obedience to the plans He has for our lives it changes our perspective toward everything.

Ephesians 2:10 says, "God has made us what we are. In Christ Jesus, God made us to do good works, which God planned in advance for us to live our lives doing."

Some theologians may say these "plans" are more overarching, but others say God has specific plans for each of us. In Jeremiah 1, God shares how He formed Jeremiah and set him apart for a specific work. Do we not all have that same God? (Try a little word study on "formed" it's quite humbling and inspiring to think of the God of the universe and all creation bothering to form each of us individually!)

Back to success. God offers each of us free will. He planned for our interactions with Him and with each other to be based on the choices we make. We can connect well or pull back. We can process our lives with Him, or blame our circumstances on Him. He said, "In this world, you will have trouble, but take heart - I have overcome the world." He also promised He would give us peace and be with us in any situation.

Good Coaching not only helps us discern what God has for us and how we should move forward, it also helps us process along the way. Life is a journey and success happens when we invite Him into each step, each outcome, each redirect. Success is processing when things don't go as expected with the One who can soothe our soul, bring meaning and clarity, and fuel us with hope to carry on.

Success is an active relationship with God.

If you are facing something stagnant or disappointing in your life, good coaching can help you process well. Good Coach Training gives you the tools to help others process as well.
